Without a doubt Mexico is one of Claire’s favourite places in the world, and none so other as magical Merida, a city steeped in history, culture and tradition. It is a cosmopolitan city, modern, with many young adults choosing to set up home here due to its prospects and its reputation for being one of the safest spots in Mexico. It is a beautiful amalgamation of old and new, with the people of Merida keeping prehistoric traditions alive through food, arts, craft, culture and ritual. It is hard to put in to words the powerful and palpable energy that radiates here and in the surrounding areas of the Yucatan. Synchronicities and signs in abundance. If one is looking for a place to align and to believe in the magic of the universe once again, then this is the place.

ACCOMODATION + TRAVEL
Our retreat venue is an incredible Hacienda located 40 minutes from Merida airport and around an hour from the bustle of Merida. Hidden by surrounding Puebla magicas (magic towns) it is the perfect place to be the container for our week together. Hacienda Sac chich blends the eclectic history of Merida with modern-day flare. A beautiful place to relax, restore and soak up the indescribable energy that radiates through the Yucatan.
This place is a peaceful haven, outside of colourful Merida, however, the city is easily accessible for those that wish to explore during their retreat downtime. Other places of interest in Merida are listed below and we encourage you to visit at your leisure, perhaps even staying longer than the retreat to really get a vibe of this incredible land.
YOGA
'Earth to Air' will see us move with the elements, Earth, Water, Fire and Air according to the Mayan calendar. We will start our day with an awakening Mandala vinyasa practice, circling 360 degrees around the mat and working with a target area of the body. The morning practice may be substituted with Rocket, a modified Ashtanga practice, on certain days.
Our nights will allow us to soften into a deep yin practice, cultivating awareness of our physical and mental edges.
It is recommended that you have a consistent physical yoga practice or an understanding of traditional Yoga poses to really benefit from our yoga sessions. Beginners are of course welcome, our practice is open level and different options are given, however, please note that the pace and flow of our morning sessions are more catered to those who already have an established practice.
121 sessions can be organised during our retreat for those wishing to focus on certain goals.

SPECIAL EXCURSIONS
During our time together we will take part in some beautiful ceremonies and traditional practices including a cacao ceremony, temazcal and a traditional Mayan cooking lesson. There will be plenty of opportunities to explore nearby Puebla magicas and ancient pyramids that are of great significance to the Mayan cultures and the Yucatan.
The Yucatan as a whole is an incredible party of Mexico, full of culture and character and we highly recommend you extend your stay pre or post-retreat to take in some of the surrounding areas just that little bit further afield from us.

TRAVEL TO + FROM OUR RETREAT SPACE
We will provide transport to and from Merida leaving the city centre at 11:00 am on the 30th and returning to the city centre at 11am on the 5th June. This transport is included in your retreat. Should you require transport outside of these times we can organise taxis at an extra cost.
Yoga is all-inclusive and so too should this retreat be, which is why we have offered different price ranges and different availability for rooms, whilst fairly paying all our retreat curators and collaborators. It our wish to create a nurturing space with an open and friendly environment. If you are coming alone and wish to be placed in a room with others, this is a great way to make a companion for your trip. If you have planned to come with a friend(s) please let us know via email so that we can place you together.
You can inquire via email at hello@lumawellbeing.com. To confirm your spot we require a non-refundable deposit of £400. We require the retreat to be paid in full six weeks before the arrival date. Please note however that your investment for this retreat, including the deposit is covid safe. Should we or Hacienda Sac Chich have to cancel or postpone due to covid you will receive your payment back in full
